Terms of Use

MTGF is a hobby project — a fan-made site for discovering, building, and sharing Magic: The Gathering decks. It is built and run in our spare time from the Netherlands by Wessel van der Vlugt and Julian van der Pol on a best-effort basis. It is not a company, shows no ads, has no paid features, and is not affiliated with, approved, or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast. By using mtgf.net (the "service") you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

You may use MTGF if you are at least 16 years old. You create an account with an email address and a password, or with your Google account. For email sign-up you must confirm the address through a link we email you before you can sign in.

Give accurate information and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for everything that happens on your account, including what AI assistants you connect do (section 6). We may suspend or remove accounts that appear compromised, impersonate others, or provide false information.

In Settings you can change your avatar, your email address and your password (both need your current password; if you only sign in with Google, Settings first emails you a link to set a password), and you can delete your account at any time. Deleting asks you to open a confirmation link we email you while you are signed in, and it cannot be undone. What is deleted is described in the Privacy Policy.

MTGF lets you search Magic cards (including natural-language AI search), keep track of the cards you own, build decks with a version history, share decks and collections by link, edit decks together, playtest solo or 1v1, scan physical cards with your camera, browse a Discover feed, personalised when activity recording is on, and connect AI assistants through MCP. Features can change, be limited, or be removed at any time.

You agree not to use the service to:

• Scrape, mirror, bulk-export or republish card data, prices, card images or other users' data, or otherwise bypass rate limits or other protections. Card data and images come from Scryfall; get them from Scryfall.
• Run bots, scripts or crawlers against the service, or create accounts automatically. Automation is only acceptable through your own account within the limits in section 5, or through an AI assistant you have connected yourself (section 6).
• Reverse-engineer, probe, or attack the service or the infrastructure it runs on.
• Circumvent authentication, rate limits, quotas, CSRF protection, or abuse prevention.
• Impersonate another user or misrepresent the origin of content.
• Upload or share content that is illegal under Dutch or EU law, infringes third-party rights, is harassing, hateful, or abusive, or contains malware or phishing material. This includes deck names and descriptions, share-link labels, avatars and deck covers.
• Use share links, invites or playtest tables to harass or spam other people.
• Use printable proxy sheets or any export to make counterfeit cards or to sell reproductions of Wizards of the Coast's content. Proxy sheets are for your own playtesting.
• Use the service in ways that violate the Wizards of the Coast Fan Content Policy.

MTGF limits how often each action can be used, for example searching, saving, importing, card scanning and AI search. Limits are counted per minute and per action, for your account when you are signed in and per IP address when you are not, and they differ per action; AI search also has its own per-minute quota. Responses to limited API requests carry X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset headers, and going over a limit gives you HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header; the AI search quota, assistant (MCP) calls and live connections report how long to wait in the error response instead. Respect them. We may change limits or throttle clients that harm service quality.

AI assistants spend the same per-action limits as your browser, plus an overall cap on MCP requests.

MTGF runs an MCP server at https://mtgf.net/api/mcp and is an OAuth provider for it. You connect an AI assistant through the assistant's own authorisation flow: if you are not signed in, MTGF asks you to sign in, and then shows a permission screen with the name the assistant registered and the address it will return you to. Nothing is connected until you choose Allow; after that, the same assistant reconnects without asking again for the same access. MTGF cannot limit an assistant to part of the access below and does not verify the name an assistant gives itself, so only allow assistants you started connecting yourself.

Once connected, an assistant acts as you. It can:

• read and change your collection and decks, including deleting decks and restoring earlier versions;
• create, list and revoke share links for your decks and collection, including edit links; unless the assistant picks an expiry, a link never expires;
• open share links and playtest invites it is given, and change decks through edit links, as you can;
• start, join, play, end and delete playtests, and take an AI seat at a table, where the other players see it under its brand name (for example "Claude" or "AI") and where it can move cards on the other players' boards, as any player can (section 7);
• read your account details including your email address, your Discover profile, and a full export of your data.

It cannot change your email address or password, delete your account, or upload images.

You are responsible for what an assistant does with your account as if you had done it yourself. Only connect assistants and providers you trust: whatever an assistant reads leaves MTGF and is handled by the assistant's provider under its own terms and privacy policy, which we do not control.

An assistant keeps its access until it is revoked. Each access token stops working after one hour, and a daily cleanup deletes token records about a week after they were issued; assistants that ask for offline access receive a refresh token and renew on their own, so in practice access continues until you disconnect the assistant. Signing out or changing your password does not disconnect an assistant. There is currently no screen for reviewing or revoking connected assistants: email info@mtgf.net and we will revoke it, or delete your account, which removes every grant.

You retain ownership of the decks, collection lists, descriptions, avatars, and other content you create ("user content"). By creating or sharing user content on MTGF you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and transmit it solely to operate the service and make the features you use work, for example showing a deck or collection to the people you shared it with and letting them copy it. The licence ends when you remove the content or delete your account, except for copies that sit in caches or backups for a limited time, copies we must keep by law, and copies other people made of a deck you shared before you removed it.

Share links work for anyone who has the link, signed in or not, until they expire or you revoke them. A view link shows the deck, its cards and description and your display name, and a signed-in visitor can copy the deck into their own account; anyone with a view or edit link can also export the deck and print a proxy sheet of it. A collection link shows your whole collection with quantities, foil counts, prices and total value, plus your list of decks and what is in each, and lets its holder copy and export those decks. An edit link lets anyone who has it add, remove, move and reorder cards in that deck without an account, but not rename, delete or reshare it. Share links only with people you trust, and revoke the ones you no longer need. We cannot take back a link someone else already has, or content they copied.

Playtest tables. When you start or join a playtest table, the other players see your display name, profile picture, deck name and the public part of your board. MTGF does not enforce game rules, so other players can also move cards on your board. Play with people you trust.

You warrant that you have the rights to the content you submit and that it does not infringe third-party rights or violate applicable law.

If you believe content on the service infringes your rights or is otherwise unlawful, email info@mtgf.net with: the URL of the content, a description of the issue, the rights you claim, and your contact details. We follow the Dutch notice-and-takedown practice for hosting providers and will respond in a reasonable timeframe. Abusive or bad-faith notices may themselves be grounds for action.

Card names, images, mana symbols, rules text, and set metadata are the property of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Card data and images are provided by Scryfall and used in line with Scryfall's API guidelines and the Wizards of the Coast Fan Content Policy. Prices are informational only. Prices and collection values shown on MTGF are estimates based on the price data in the Scryfall card data. They can be out of date, missing or wrong, and they are not an offer, an appraisal or financial advice. Links to stores such as Cardmarket and Card Kingdom are provided for convenience; MTGF does not endorse them and their own terms apply.

Parts of MTGF use statistical models: AI search (including how it reads your query), similar cards, deck suggestions, the Discover recommender, card scanning, and any AI assistant you connect. Their output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date: a misread query, a misidentified card or printing, a suggestion that does not fit your deck, or an assistant making a mistake on your account. Check results, and what an assistant did, before you rely on them, in particular before buying, selling or playing a card in organised play. Legality and rules text come from card data and can lag behind official sources. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any model output.

MTGF is a hobby project offered "as is" and "as available" with no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, security, or accuracy of card, price or model data. It may go down, lose data, or be discontinued at any time, so keep your own copy of anything important: Settings has a one-click data export. Card and price data comes from third parties and may be inaccurate or out of date. Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it cannot be excluded under applicable Dutch or EU law.

To the extent permitted by Dutch law, and subject to the last sentence of this section, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the service, including anything done by an AI assistant you connected or by someone you gave a share link or invite to. Because the service is provided free of charge, our liability for direct damage is limited to the fullest extent Dutch law allows. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or deliberate recklessness, for death or personal injury, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by mandatory Dutch or EU law, including mandatory consumer-protection law.

The MTGF source code is published at github.com/TBLgGamin/mtgf under the MIT License, which governs the code. These terms govern your use of the hosted service at mtgf.net. The MIT License does not cover Wizards of the Coast's or Scryfall's content (card names, text, images, symbols) or user content, and third-party open-source components used by the service keep their own licences.

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts or access, revoke AI assistant access, and disable share links that violate these terms, threaten service stability, are required to be removed by law, or belong to users we reasonably believe to be acting in bad faith. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (content licence for copies others already made, intellectual property, disclaimer, limitation of liability, governing law) survive.

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above and, where practical, announced by email to the address on your account. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms; if you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account.

These terms and any dispute arising from or related to them or the service are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The competent court in the Netherlands has exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings before the courts of the country where you live, or to rely on the mandatory protections of that country's law, in which case those rights are preserved. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

• Severability: if any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
• No waiver: failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
• Entire agreement: these terms and the Privacy Policy are the complete agreement between you and us regarding the service.
• Force majeure: we are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
• Assignment: you may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them to a legal entity that takes over the project.
